System Administrator
Our continued growth means it's time for a full-time system administrator to join the Freshview team. You'll be responsible for keeping both our web applications running smoothly as well as planning and implementing further scalability into our platform. Our Setup
Our setup consists of numerous database servers (SQL Server 2005), mail servers, load balanced web servers and a NAS, all running on Dell hardware in a fully managed premier data centre in the US. All machines run on Windows Server 2003 using IIS on the web servers. We have redundancy at every layer, including load balancing for the web servers and log shipping for the database servers.
Your responsibilities
We're growing at 500 new customers each week and sending millions of emails each day. As sys admin, you'll be responsible for:
- Planning and implementing hardware and software upgrades to ensure continued scalability.
- Integrate our applications with innovative storage solutions such as Amazon S3.
- Improve system monitoring and ensure the 24/7 availability of our web applications.
- Maintaining and improving our current backup and disaster recovery routines.
- Ensuring our local network, including our build and deploy servers continue to run smoothly.
- Using your sys admin genius to improve things in ways we've never even thought of.
You'll be working with the best in the business - our DBA's are SQL Server MVP's and the data center team you'll be working closely with are all IIS & Windows Server MVP's.
The Optional Extras
Plenty of experience being responsible for always on web applications on the Windows platform is a definite plus. On top of this, the following experience is also looked upon favourably.
- Experience with SMTP and POP (we are an Email Service Provider after all).
- Familiar with SQL Server 2005.

How many hours will I be expected to work?
We have lives too. Our staff do 40 hour weeks and we're pretty flexible about your working hours. Having said that, you'll be the first port of call if things go bump in the night and it will be your responsibility to get things back on track. Of course, we're all here to help.
Where are you guys based?
Freshview is located in Sutherland, about 30 minutes south of the Sydney CBD. We're also a close walk to trains and buses, are just off the freeway and a 30 minute drive from Wollongong.
Can I telecommute?
Preferably not, we're looking for someone to work closely with the rest of the team in our Sydney office.
