Freshview and Silicon Beach
Posted by David Greiner on January 23, 2007 4:25 PM
It's not every day you make the cover of the country's most prestigious financial publication, in a wetsuit no less, but that's exactly what happened to Ben and I today.
The story highlights Australia's new wave of internet companies making a place for themselves online. We've always maintained a focus on creating an enjoyable yet productive work environment, and I think the "Silicon Beach" moniker fits nicely. On top of Freshview, the article also highlights other great Aussie companies like Atlassian, Tangler and Quotify.

A huge thanks goes to Josh Gliddon from the Financial Review for putting the article together, as well as Mark Jones and Mike Cannon-Brookes for making the initial introductions. Thanks also to Lachlan Hardy for throwing a couple of shots of the story on Flickr.

I read the Fin Review article and was inspired by what you guys have done. Absolutely amazing! I'm a Newcastle Herald journo (still in the old media world), but when I hear about companies like yours it affirms my belief that limitless opportunities exist in the new digital world. That may sound obvious, but it's not until you see the record of companies like yours in black and white that it really hits home. Well done; keep chargin!

Wow Damon, thanks so much for the kind words. We agree that with a bit of hard work you can do some very big things with small teams on the web. Cheers for adding your thoughts.

That's just fantastic. I love both of your products, MailBuild in particular, because it just makes my life so simple.
When I first heard about Campaign Monitor, I remember being pleasantly surprised that it was done by Australians. It had great "buzz" about it, and it was a fantastic product, standing up on the world stage punching above it's weight class. I guess that's why I was happy to help out in as small a way as possible.
Congrats on the article. Keep it up.

Well done guys. Great article and having a picture like that on the front-page of Financial Review is just priceless.
Looking forward to catch up when I'm back in Sydney.

Aurgh, Dave, do you mean while I was waist deep in Japanese powder I missed the opportunity to hang with the Aussie web cogniscenti? Or should I be glad I was spared the sight of you guys in neoprene?
Keep up the great work!
Ben.

Great article! :) Here at Service Central we use campaignmonitor for all our email campaigns - I was surprised it didn't make BRW's top 100 web apps. It's a fantastic tool and even better to know that it's Australian made! :)
Got anything to add?
